 am has a new allocation of State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) funds avai
 lable for eligible small business concerns. On September 8\, 2022 the U.S.
  Small Business Administration (SBA) awarded Michigan the maximum state aw
 ard in MI-STEP funds for FY23. With additional state match funding\, total
  funds available are $1.87 million.\nThe program has three primary objecti
 ves:\n\nIncrease the number of Michigan small businesses that export\nIncr
 ease the dollar value of Michigan exports\nIncrease the number of Michigan
  small businesses exploring significant new trade opportunities\n\nDue to 
 tremendous response from Michigan exporters\, MEDC has utilized 100% of it
 s FY2023 MI-STEP funds in record time and applications are now closed. We 
 expect to receive FY2024 funding soon and reopen the application period st
 arting October 1\, 2023. If you need export support beyond financial assis
 tance\, please contact your&nbsp\;International Trade Manager.&nbsp\;\nEli
 gibility\nUp to $15\,000 in assistance is available to offset 50 percent o
 f pre-approved expenses per fiscal year. Michigan companies must meet the 
 following eligibility criteria to qualify for MI-STEP funds:\n\nBe in acco
 rdance with Small Business Administration(SBA) guidelines and size standar
 ds:www.sba.gov/content/small-business-size-standards\nDemonstrate an under
 standing of the costs associatedwith exporting and doing business with for
 eign purchasers\,including the costs of freight forwarding\, customs broke

  export success and positiveimpact on the regional economy\nProvide an EIN
  number linked to a Michigan address\nBe in good standing with the Michiga

 eady U.S. company seeking toexport goods or services of U.S. origin or hav
 e at least51 percent U.S. content\nBe able to demonstrate minimum gross an
 nual revenue of $100k\nBe a full-time means of employment\nDemonstrate a c
 ompetitive advantage and capability of entering international markets agai
 nst local products and services\nWholesale distributors of imported produc
 ts are ineligible\nMI-STEP program utilization is not guaranteed and is su
